Hey Orlando,
My name is Ari and I'm in Orlando for the summer and have been interested in getting involved in some musical pursuits. I've played the drum set for about 8-10 years and am self-taught. Next year, I plan on transferring to Berklee College of Music in Boston unless something exceptional comes my way.
My acoustic set is a 6pc DW Collectors Series and I practice on an electric roland kit as well. Eventually I will mix the two kits, for unique live sound. My biggest drumming influence is Carter Beauford, but I can definitely play any style from Rock to African to Funk and Jazz. No metal/emo please. I especially enjoy instrumental jams infused with quality lyrics.
I think my biggest advantage is that I have a very good melodic ear and can relate to most musicians. In other words, I see music not just as rhythm, but also melody. I see each drum and cymbal as a different voice and try to blend them together in the most appealing ways. I know when to explode, and I know when to tighten up. I'm intelligent and not just a background drummer--I have unique ideas and want to use them to strongly contribute to the songwriting process and to the world at large. Whether for a collaboration, or a tour, I would love to pursue any opportunities that I believe will take me somewhere. Music is my career and my life, and I hope to learn as much as I can from as many musicians as I can--we always have so much to learn--I will also try to share what I've learned along the way. I hope I can find some like-minded musicians.
By the way, I play guitar at an intermediate level, and can solo and play pretty challenging progressions if taught. By the way, I'm also 20.
I am also a singer, but as a drummer I would do backup vocals. (I only like singing lead when playing guitar).
If you're just getting into music, I strongly encourage you to keep it up! Please refrain from contacting me unless you are an advanced musician and can improvise (or if you have a big ego). I was there too--keep it up and you will evolve on your own as well.
I hope to hear from some of you soon,
Keep on keepin' on,
-Ari
P.S. Be honest and confident, but PLEASE no EGOS!!!
