In the "Musicians available" forum, The StraightJackets posted a message promoting their band -- but when I enter "StraightJackets" or "Straight Jackets" into the board search engine, it doesn't find that post. It only brings up a reply (containing the word "StraightJackets") to a different message.

My guess is that the term "StraightJackets" didn't show up in search because I bolded it and had it as a link. Not sure, just guessing. I don't know why that would exclude it from the search function, but it may. Perhaps search doesn't see text that is inside of html brackets. You got a gig for The StraightJackets? I'll be your best pal if ya do!

Hi, Stuart. If the search function can't find your band then the ad value of the "Musicians available" forum is miniscule, even if somebody knows your band by name and wants to hire you -- especially as the forum gets inundated by a dizzying array of bands competing for work.

Don't get carried away, David. If there's an issue, the admins will work on a solution. I don't think that we're ready to close the doors just yet. Thanks for pointing out what happened.

Make sure you set the search engine to look far enough back in time. The default seems to be 7 days. If the message you're looking for is more than 7 days old, it won't be found.

I think that was the issue in the first place, actually. Good catch!!! I'm going to see if I can change the parameters universally so that this issue goes away permanently. Gutz should be back soon (if not already...) and I'll take it up with him. That's an admin feature.
